Huma Qureshi – A Talented Bonanza!

26 Jul

Huma Qureshi is another talent that is making waves in tinsel town. Huma with her brief but impactful performance in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur I, has proclaimed her arrival. Huma was a model before she stepped into the acting arena and was noticed for advertisements of Vita Marie, Saffola Oil, Mederma Cream, Samsung Guru, Pears Soap and Nerolac. It was her work in these commercials that garnered attention, especially the ones in which she featured opposite superstars, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.

Huma has worked in theatres in Delhi before she started working in films and has had the good luck to work with noted theatre personalities like Aamir Raza Husain, Sohaila Kapur, Rahul Pulkeshi and NK Sharma of Act One Group

Apart from Gangs of Wasseypur, Huma has bagged the role in the Tamil film, Billa 2 opposite Ajith after competing with 700 girls. In 2012, she was honored with a Special Mention by the Grand Jury at the 2012 Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles for her performance as the titular character in the short film Sujata. Huma will be seen in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, a romantic comedy, touted to be India’s first “food film that will portray her as a “fun loving Punjabi girl”. Qureshi currently has her hands full shooting for the psychological thriller Ek Thi Daayan opposite Emraan Hashmi, which is jointly produced by Vishal Bhardwaj and Ekta Kapoor. She has further signed to be part of Nikhil Advani’s next yet-to-be-titled project, and has performed an item number in the dubbed Hindi version of Michael Winterbottom’s drama film Trishna starring Freida Pinto. “Good work is on my cards, wherever it comes from,” says the proud actress, who is a die-hard SRK fan and we couldn’t agree more.

With an attractive face and oodles of talent, Huma has it all to make it big in Mumbai’s Dream Factory! We wish her all the luck!
